Personal feedback: Each participant will have an opportunity to have his/hers painting reviewed and critiqued by Carol.
Chat: Participants are invited to use chat through the workshop for live interaction with Carol.
Workshop recording: Students will be given access to the workshop recording for 6 months after the workshop.

Portraits with Heart: Painting Loved Ones in Watercolor Workshop: A Two-Day Online Workshop with Carol Carter
Discover how to bring warmth, story, and emotion into your portrait painting.

In this two-day online workshop, Carol shares the luminous techniques and heartfelt approach that have made her portraits internationally admired.
​From her long-running series painting her son since birth, her stunning self-portraits and to her acclaimed 75 Portraits of Immigrants in America, Carol shows how watercolor can capture not only a likeness, but also the essence of a life.
Workshop Goals:
• Build the foundations of expressive watercolor portraiture
• Explore composition, color harmony, and the structure of the face
• Learn how to translate personal reference photos into luminous portraits
• Develop the confidence to move from guided demos into your own creative voice
Through step-by-step demonstrations, guided practice, and personalized feedback, Carol will help you unlock the power of watercolor to paint portraits that radiate both beauty and heart.
Whether you wish to honor a loved one, capture fleeting moments, or explore the human story, this workshop will guide you toward portraits filled with meaning.
​Day 1 - Portrait #1 
​12 pm - 3 pm Eastern  
  • Carol will begin the class with a demonstration painting and lecture.
  • Students will be introduced to and participate in Carol's signature watercolor tutorial.
  • The session will end with small critiques session of students' paintings.   ​

EXPlOrE CAROL CARTER PREVIOUS WORKSHOPS

Carol Carter is an internationally recognized artist whose career has spanned more than 35 years. Carol has taught workshops for over 30 years, as well as in university. Her paintings have been in many national and international exhibitions, both juried and invitational.
​She has been featured in global publications including, International Arts Magazine, Art of Watercolour, Watercolor Artist, and L’Aquarelle Magazine. In 2012 she was an AIRE fellow for the Everglades National Park. She is part of the Art in Embassies program with art currently in the American Embassy in Montenegro.
In 2019 she was also honored with Master Signature Member status, American Women Artists and Master Signature Member status, Heartland Art Club.  She recently exhibited in “Making Their Mark: American Women Artists” at the Booth Western Art Museum. She is the recent recipient of 2020 Snehil Lifetime Achievement Award, Snehilsrijan, India. She has exhibited her work in Europe, China, Hong Kong, USVI, Morocco and throughout the United States.

​She has lead many symposiums on how to make a living as an artist and marketing art as a career. She has frequently served as a juror in art exhibitions both on national and on international levels. She is on the advisory board of the American Watercolor Weekly.
